Competition Reports

Key Stage 2 Intra-School Boccia Competition

This morning (Friday 21st October) the whole of keystage 2 took part in an intra-school Boccia competition in teams against each other. As I'm sure you are aware this is a new sport to all the children (as it was new to most of us as well) so the children did very well to learn a brand new sport from scratch and compete all in one morning.

Thank you to the young leaders from Biddenham upper school who ran the competition for us.

Key Stage 2 Multi-Sport Competition

On Wednesday 30 children from year 3 went to Kempston Challenger Academy for a multi-sports competition.

The 3 sports they were competing in were; tag-rugby, goal-ball and outdoor adventurous activities.

All the children did the school and themselves proud with the effort and attitude that they displayed throughout the afternoon.

Some of the children even won some individual certificates for showing excellent sporting values including one for teamwork and determination.

Well done to all the children who competed and thank you to the young leaders who helped to run the competition.

Key Stage 2 Multi-Sports Competition

Last week 30 children from year 3 were taken to a multi-sports competition. The sports we were meant to be doing were Football, Scoreball and Athletics but because of the weather we could not go outside for football so those children joined in with the athletics.

As it was a keystage 2 competition our children were competing with year 4s as well as year 3 children but you couldn't tell because of the effort and skill shown by all of our children. The scoreball teams even managed to come second and third which was fantastic. The athletics children also did brilliantly finishing in the top half of the table.

After-School Archery Club

Before Christmas Archery club was run for years 3 and 4 and over all the weeks the children were in teams earning points doing different games and challenges.

At the end of the half term the champion table was as follows:

1st place Team Lightning Dust

2nd place Team Bow & Arrow

3rd place Team The Hulken

4th place Team Harry Potter

5th place Team Gold

6th place Team Super Girls

7th place Team The Hakas

8th place Team Manchester United

Year 3 End of Multi-Skills Scoreball Competition

Year 3 have spent the last term doing Multi-skills in PE and finished the topic with a scoreball competition.

Everyone played fantastically using all the skills they have learnt throughout the term including agility, balance, coordination and special awareness.

The Children were split into 4 teams; red, blue, yellow and green and each team played against the others. The scores were then totalled up across the year.

The final results were as follows:

1st Red Team

2nd Blue Team

3rd Yellow Team

4th Green Team

KS1 Sports event – Tuesday 3rd November 2015

Twenty three year 2 children participated in a multi skills event at Hastingsbury Business and Enterprise College on Tuesday 3rd November alongside two other local lower schools. Pupils from Hastingsbury acted as buddies to demonstrate each activity. The children took part with enjoyment and enthusiasm in various events including throwing, catching, aiming, dribbling a football, balancing and controlling a ball with a uni-hoc stick. All children received a certificate for taking part and two of our children received certificates for demonstrating the sporting values of honesty and self belief.

KS2 Sportshall Athletics Competition

On Tuesday some of our year 3 pupils participated in a sports hall athletics competition where they competed in lots of different activities including; an obstacle course, relay races and different jumping events.

They all performed brilliantly throughout the whole morning and did the school proud with their behaviour and how they supported each other.

We were competing against year 4 teams as well as year 3s so unfortunately we didn’t win, but this doesn’t mean that I wasn’t proud and pleased with every child we took with us.

Well done to all the children who competed.
